My Handsome Husband came home with this surprise for me. I LOVE Him!

Countdown to Christmas!

The countdown to Christmas is here! Oh how much I LOVE Christmas! Yesterday, Sergio and I had a great Thanksgiving. We made the food all by ourselves! Turkey, green bean casserole, yams and apples, and stuffing! And our friends brought the mashed potatos and gravy. We invited Sergio´s family and the Aguilar´s over to enjoy it with us. It was yummy. I cant say that I didn´t miss my mom´s special touches and my dad´s yummy pies but Sergio and I did a great job for our first time cooking Thanksgiving dinner! And now we are looking forward to more holiday fun for Christmas!

Zacatecas Mexico

Sergio and I were invited to visit the state of Zacatecas with our friends Luis and Lupita. We had so much fun! And what an awesome city Zacatecas is. The reason for the trip was because Luis was throwing a dinner party for the doctors that he works with. The place where we had the dinner was The Quinta Real Hotel. One of THE Coolest hotels I have seen yet. The hotel is constructed from an old bull fighting arena. Its absolutely beautiful. I didn´t have my camera in the daylight, so unfortunately you won´t be able to see its beauty, so you will all just have to visit Zacatecas someday to see for yourselves! Infact, the whole city is really cool. Everything is very colonial and very preserved from when the spaniards were there. There is also a really cool Mine that was created by the mexican-indians for the spaniards to find crystals and silver. Zacatecas is known for its beautiful silver. We were able to take a tram deep inside of the Mine. A must see!

Happy Halloween! Feliz Dia de Muertos!

Sergio and I had a great time this Halloween. I was also able to learn about the Mexican side of Halloween called Dia de Muertos (Day of the Dead). Mexicans also celebrate Halloween on October 31, but their main holiday is El Dia de Muertos on November 2nd. They have a big fair here in Aguascalientes from October 28-November 2. We went with Sergio´s family on the 31st to walk around the fair and then we also went to see the big night parade on November 2nd. It was really cool. A lot of people dress up in costumes just like in the United States. Although they mostly dress up as Skeletons with fancy colonial clothing. It was really Fun! Another tradition for Dia de Muertos is to eat this yummy bread called Pan de Muerto (bread of the dead). It is sweet bread with a hint of orange flavor and covered in white sugar. And they also drink a hot drink called Atole. It´s so so yummy. Sergio and I invited the Aguilar Family over for Family Home Evening and we had Pan De Muerto with pecan flavored Atole. Mmmm!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SERGIO!

24 years ago, on October 18th, the most handsomest man of all was born!!! Yes my handsome husband Sergio Ivan Lopez Arballo was born on October 18, 1985 and he was 7 lbs 5 oz! Here are some photos of my love through out these last 24 years...

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

To start off Sergio´s special day, I surprised him in the morning with The Thompson Family birthday ritual (toilet paper with the happy birthday song), and with yummy pancakes in a room filled with balloons....

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

After our breakfast, we had stake conference, took our Sunday naps and prepared for Sergio´s Party! We invited all the family to come over to celebrate with us. We made Tinga (yummy chicken in chipotle flavoring), to eat with tostadas and finished it off with Yummy cake and ice cream. We sang, played games, and laughed the night away. Sergio had a great day! Birthdays are the Greatest!
